The Tool Crib Coordinator is responsible for maintaining cutting tool inventory across two company locations. This role requires prior machining experience and a strong understanding of cutting tools used in CNC and manual machining environments. The ideal candidate will implement and manage a Min-Max inventory system, ensure tool availability to support production, and maintain accurate inventory records.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate daily operations of the tool crib at two locations
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of cutting tools, tool holders, inserts, gages, and related consumables
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Min-Max inventory system to ensure optimal stock levels
  • Monitor tool usage trends and adjust inventory levels accordingly
  • Issue, receive, and track tools and supplies to production personnel
  • Coordinate tool transfers between locations as needed
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventories
  • Coordinate with purchasing to reorder tools and negotiate with vendors
  • Research and recommend new tooling solutions to improve efficiency and reduce cost
  • Support machinists with tooling selection and troubleshooting when required
  • Maintain organization, labeling, and cleanliness of tool crib areas
  • Track tool performance and identify cost-saving opportunities

Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors. Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and staff, collaborating with them to accomplish shared purposes and goals. Abides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observes all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • 3+ years of machining experience (CNC preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of cutting tools (carbide inserts, end mills, drills, taps, reamers, tool holders, etc.)
  • Experience managing inventory in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience setting up and maintaining a Min-Max inventory system
  • Ability to manage inventory across multiple locations
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel or similar tracking software
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Tool Crib Attendant or Tooling Coordinator
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
  • Experience working with tooling vendors and outside sales representatives
