We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Engineer/Technician to join a busy engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out equipment refurbishments, mechanical maintenance, repairs, new build manufacturing projects, and general workshop operations. This is primarily a workshop-based role, although additional duties may be required as business needs dictate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical repair, maintenance, refurbishment, and overhaul activities on industrial equipment within a workshop environment.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective engineering solutions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and specifications.
  • Lead assigned projects and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
  • Plan, organise, and manage daily workshop activities to meet operational deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and technical documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.

Requirement

  • Time-served apprenticeship, HNC/HND, degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience within a workshop, manufacturing, or maintenance engineering environment.
  • Previous onsite, offshore, or international work experience would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable ability to take ownership of projects and deliver results.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, rotating equipment, and industrial machinery.
  • Ability to troubleshoot faults and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience participating in project meetings and liaising with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Strong communication skills with a positive and proactive approach to leadership and teamwork.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Positive 'can-do' attitude with a willingness to support wider business objectives.
