MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To carry out structural and piping fabrication and welding.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Fabrication and welding of metal components.
- Operation of welding and fabrication equipment.
- Understand and follow manufacturing drawings.
- Responsible for completing manufacturing work packs and timesheets.
- Perform cutting and heating tasks by use of Plasma Unit and oxygen and acetylene.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks to fleet / non-fleet equipment when required.
- General workshop labour.
- Assist with stores duties when required.
- Loading and unloading of equipment and deliveries.
- Adhere to the stock control system and report any shortages or issues to the purchasing team.
- Keep work areas clean and organised.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Time served Apprenticeship in Fabrication, Welding, Mechanical Engineering, or NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or Level 3.
- Proven relevant work experience at a comparable level may be accepted in the absence of formal qualifications.
- Forklift Certification is preferred.
- Full UK Driving licence.
- Working knowledge and prior experience of M.I.G / T.I.G and Flux Core welding processes and techniques in multiple positions.
- Good knowledge of health and safety.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Ability to work to a high standard of workmanship.
- Ability to learn new skills.
- Work to tight deadlines in a safe and accurate manner.
- Ability to work unsupervised in a diligent and safe manner.
- Experience of working in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Enthusiastic, committed and a fast learner with previous experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable self-starter who can work independently as well as within a team, and under own initiative.
