About Granite Recruitment
Established in 2004, Granite Recruitment is a specialist agency supporting the Energy and Infrastructure sectors across the UK. As part of our continued national growth, we are launching a new Glasgow office and seeking a high‑calibre recruitment leader to build, shape, and scale this location from the ground up. The Energy and Infrastructure sector is undergoing exceptional expansion. Engineering‑related roles are forecast to grow significantly, with priority sectors such as clean energy, defence, digital and infrastructure expected to create 834,000 additional engineering jobs over the next five years. Clean energy workforce demand alone is expected to rise by up to 400,000 additional jobs by 2030, driven by large‑scale investment and transformation across the UK’s energy system.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a high‑calibre people manager above all else. Sector background is flexible, but proven strength in leading, coaching, and holding consultants accountable is essential. Your success in this role will be defined by your ability to build a high‑performing team, set clear expectations, and consistently drive performance.
You will not be building the office alone. Our CEO will directly support business development, and we already have clients who want to work with us in Glasgow. This is not a cold start BD role — your primary focus is people leadership, team development, and maximising warm market opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Development
- Provide hands‑on coaching, expectations setting, performance management, and continuous team development.
- Build, hire and develop a Glasgow recruitment team, with full support from the business.
- Create a fast‑paced, high‑performance culture centred around ambition, accountability, and achievement.
- Own the Glasgow office revenue target, delivered through your team or a hybrid of team + personal billing.
- Lead operational performance through structured KPI monitoring, weekly performance tracking, and consistent expectation‑setting across the team.
- Conduct Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) with each consultant to review pipelines, ratios, activity levels, and commercial outcomes, ensuring clear accountability and development.
- Ensure high standards of compliance, quality, and delivery.
Skills & Experience We’re Looking For
Essential
- A strong, credible recruitment manager with a minimum of 3 years people management experience.
- Demonstrable success in leading consultants, setting expectations, and driving high performance.
- Experience managing white‑collar or specialist recruitment desks.
- Hands‑on leadership style — visible, supportive, ambitious, and operationally strong.
- Commercially sharp with the ability to shape and grow a successful office.
Desirable
- Experience within Energy, Infrastructure, Engineering or Defence recruitment (not essential).
- Exposure to building teams from an early phase or leading a new region or division.
What We Offer
- A career‑defining leadership role with autonomy, influence, and the backing of a national firm.
- Ability to build “your own” office with full operational and business support functions already in place.
- Entry into a market experiencing historic growth, investment and demand for specialist talent, backed by national data and government forecasts.
- Competitive salary and package aligned to experience.
