Our Kiddi Caru Day Nursery in Bristol is looking for a caring and enthusiastic SEND Co‑ordinator to join their team. You will play a key role in caring for, supporting and inspiring our children, encouraging curiosity and helping them thrive every day. Ideally we would like the candidate to have L2/L3 childcare experience, but this could be reviewed if the candidate has good experience in working with SEND children.

About our nursery:

All the rooms at our nursery are bright and airy, with age‑appropriate resources that create an inclusive environment and support independent exploration. The colours are calm and natural, with high‑quality wooden resources to encourage open‑ended play. Downstairs, the Bumblebees room for babies and the Butterflies room for toddlers both have free‑flow access to their own gardens with decking and grass, allowing safe outdoor exploration. Upstairs, the Dragonflies room for preschool‑aged children offers activities that develop essential skills for primary school, supporting cognitive, social, and emotional growth. We also have a sensory room accessible to all ages, providing a calming space to explore different sensory experiences. Transitions between rooms happen when children are ready, ensuring each child feels safe, nurtured, and inspired. Our three gardens offer a variety of engaging outdoor environments, with age‑appropriate equipment to support physical development in all weathers.

Location and travel:

Our nursery is conveniently located just a short walk from local shops, including the supermarket, post office, and cafés. With excellent transport links and bus stops right outside, we are an ideal choice for people commuting from Barley Close, Staple Hill, Fishponds, Mangotsfield, and Emersons Green.

What you will be doing:

  • Acting as a liaison between parents and staff for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Advising and supporting other Nursery Practitioners regarding children with special educational needs or disabilities.
  • Ensuring that appropriate Individual Education Plans are in place.
  • Ensuring that relevant background information about children with special educational needs or disabilities is collected, recorded, and updated.
  • Working closely with children with SEND to ensure they receive high levels of care and support.
  • Keeping up to date with initiatives and best practice.
  • Once settled into the role, taking on the nursery’s SENDCO responsibilities.
