Spencers Wood Day Nursery and Preschool, part of Grandir UK, is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Room Leader to join our team. You will play a key role in caring for, supporting and inspiring our children, encouraging curiosity and helping them thrive every day.

About Our Nursery

Our nursery stretches across four bright and spacious floors, offering a caring and warm environment for all children. In our baby room, little ones enjoy a nurturing space, while the older rooms are designed to support curiosity and help children develop independence. Our nursery garden is a spacious outdoor play area designed for fun and exploration. It features a mud kitchen, a large sandpit, a big zone for bikes and scooters, a construction area with building resources and an undercover space where our babies can play safely, rain or shine. We run weekly sports sessions designed to develop fundamental movement skills through fun, active games that inspire exploration, creativity and growth. A well‑established and experienced team, committed to nurturing each child’s development, with strong, collaborative partnerships with parents.

Well‑connected by local roads, with convenient on‑site and nearby parking for team members. Local bus routes to Reading Town Centre.

What will you be doing

  • Promote high standards of quality within the nursery
  • Support and supervise playroom staff with their day‑to‑day duties
  • Deploy staff appropriately to ensure that the required standards are delivered and maintained within the rooms
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the nursery keycarer procedures and allocate children to keycarers appropriately
  • Ensure that practice and provision in the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Provide professional, relevant feedback to parents/carers about their child
  • Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers
  • Develop open and positive working relationships with staff
  • Ensure that all staff develop and maintain friendly, professional relationships with parents and carers
