As a Senior Conductor, safety is at the forefront of everything you do. You will be responsible for undertaking Train Guard responsibilities in line with industry and company standards, rules and policies in a safe, punctual manner. You will lead the on-train team to ensure exceptional customer service is delivered daily, even when things don’t quite go to plan!
The Senior Conductor Training Programme includes modules on rules and regulations, route learning, fire safety and track safety, followed by ongoing training and assessments. The first 6 weeks will consist of a classroom learning approach of the theory. This is followed by practical learning under the guidance of a Senior Conductor Mentor during which you will be regularly assessed to develop and maintain competence.
What You’ll Do
- Revenue Duties - selling and checking tickets and travel documents
- Delivering exceptional customer service - ensuring our customers have a safe, comfortable and memorable journey and resolving issues promptly where we can
- Ensuring personal safety and that of others at all times
- Comply with all relevant rules, procedures and policies
- Undergo competence/proficiency assessments as required by company procedures and the Safety Management System (SMS)
- Manage on-train requirements such as seat reservations, ensuring appropriate train presentation, timely and appropriate on-train customer announcements
- Ensuring having received and understood any notices, bulletins or other information relating to the job and where required, confirm receipt of these in the prescribed manner (usually on a tablet device)
- Communicate effectively with and assist staff and customers in the interests of safety and customer service
In your role as a Senior Conductor, you will work shifts from the early hours of the morning until late at night, including weekends.
