Make a real impact in open‑access rail. Shape commercial strategy. Drive growth.

Grand Central is an open‑access train operator connecting the North East and West Yorkshire with London. With no government funding, our success is driven entirely by our customers — which is why we're committed to delivering exceptional journeys, meaningful community engagement and continuous commercial innovation.

We’ve been proudly linking London Kings Cross, Yorkshire and the North East since 2007, calling at smaller stations and supporting local organisations along the way.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Commercial Analysis Manager to lead and evolve our commercial analysis function. You'll provide critical forecasting, insight and reporting that inform decision‑making across the business and directly influence revenue growth.

Working closely with the Head of Commercial, Revenue Management, Pricing, Marketing and the Arriva UK Trains Growth team, you’ll be at the heart of shaping Grand Central’s commercial performance — now and in the future.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Identify emerging customer behaviour trends and translate insight into actionable recommendations for Revenue Management and Marketing.
  • Deliver accurate revenue and demand forecasts, maintaining key KPIs and acting as SME for the GC Revenue Forecasting Model.
  • Develop and enhance data analysis and reporting capability using the Arriva BI platform.
  • Oversee Grand Central’s revenue claims process, ensuring the business maximises value from IAD and SPD claims.
  • Support modelling and evaluation for business development initiatives — including timetable changes, new routes, service enhancements and engineering impact analysis.
  • Line management of a team of 2 analysts and oversee the Group Booking function.

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree‑educated (or equivalent) with strong numerical and written communication skills.
  • Proven analytical background with experience using BI tools and multiple data sources.
  • Confident communicator able to present clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to translate insight into tangible business improvements.
  • A proactive, curious and challenging thinker — comfortable working at pace and juggling priorities.
  • A positive, dynamic team player with a passion for understanding complex issues.

Desirable:

  • Experience with rail industry systems such as LENNON and MOIRA.
  • Understanding of PDFH principles.
  • Previous Open Access experience.

Why Join Grand Central?

We offer a range of benefits designed to support your lifestyle, wellbeing and career growth.

  • Unlimited free travel for you and your immediate family on all Grand Central services.
  • Concessionary travel on other Arriva UK Trains franchises.
  • Access to a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (Health Assured).

Additional Benefits (after probation):

  • Friends & Family travel passes.
