Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance. Frequent travel within the UK and internationally required. Location: Portsmouth – 60% of the working week must be office based. Full‑time role within Airbus Defence and Space Limited.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Primary interface with nominated supplier(s) and responsible for the relationship between the supplier and Airbus.
  • Fully responsible for managing the purchase phase of the supply chain core process; deliver hardware to projects on time and to cost while fulfilling performance and quality requirements.
  • Build an open and trustful relationship with supplier employees and management.
  • Provide support to all aspects of the supply‑chain process for hardware and participate in schedule and cost improvement initiatives within Airbus and with suppliers.
  • International travel – approximately one week per month.
  • Day‑to‑day contact with the supplier and management of contract implementation (multi‑project, international); timely and accurate reporting to the Project Supply Manager; facilitate technical interaction between project and supplier.
  • Acquire in‑depth knowledge of the supplier to enable effective control and improvement.
  • Identify risks and propose/agree and ensure the implementation of mitigating actions.
  • Quality responsibility for Equipment Qualification Status Review (EQSR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Manufacturing Readiness Review (MRR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), Test Review Board/Shipment Review Board (TRB/SRB) & Design Review Board (DRB).
  • Manage Non Conformity Reports (NCR) and Request For Waiver/Deviation (RFW/D); chair Non Conformance Report Board’s (NRB).
  • Quality interface for Manufacturing Inspection Points (MIP), Electrical Electronic Equipment (EEE) and Material & Process (M&P).
  • Provide support to quality audits and assessments as required.
  • Complete annual supplier evaluation with appropriate support.
  • Key member of the Multi‑Functional Team (MFT) representing procurement post‑contract signature, accountable for supplier performance and Airbus procurement processes.

About You

  • Degree in Engineering, Business Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of experience in procurement, engineering, quality or manufacturing.
  • Ability to anticipate, assess and mitigate risks.
  • Strong communication skills, active listening and empathy.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to persuade, influence and convince.
  • Procurement IT tool knowledge and APQP knowledge would be a benefit.
  • Excellent skills in relationship building, team building, empowering, motivating others and conflict management.
  • Proficient in English at a negotiation level.
