I’m currently working with a London-based trading technology team that’s looking to bring in a Senior Engineer within their Data Platform team to help scale a real‑time platform powering high‑volume trading systems. This isn’t a typical backend role. It sits at the intersection of high‑performance backend engineering and data platform architecture, focused on building distributed systems that process and stream huge volumes of trading data in real time.
When markets become volatile, trade and order volumes can surge instantly, so the platform needs to remain extremely fast, resilient, and fault‑tolerant under significant load. The team is looking for engineers who enjoy working on complex systems where scalability, concurrency, and performance really matter, particularly within event‑driven and streaming architectures. It’s the kind of environment where you’re solving real engineering problems at scale, rather than just building standard application features.
Tech Stack- C# / .NET (currently .NET 8 / .NET 10)
- Kafka or similar event‑streaming technologies (RabbitMQ, Kinesis, Azure Service Bus, etc.)
- PostgreSQL and large relational data systems
- Real‑time data pipelines and distributed systems
- Designing and scaling real‑time data ingestion pipelines
- Building and improving event‑driven platform services
- Handling large volumes of streaming market data
- Working with product owners to translate requirements into production‑ready systems
Package: Salary: £120,000 per year. Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days per week).
