Principal Software Engineer – Liverpool (hybrid).

Hyperloop Recruitment is partnering with a leading Liverpool-based tech firm seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their team.

This role combines hands-on work (Type Script-focused stack) with technical leadership, including mentoring junior/mid-level engineers and collaborating with senior leadership.

The position is at the forefront of an entire platform rebuild and requires an experienced developer with strong backend skills for designing services, data flows, and integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production systems using Node. js and Type Script.
  • Lead architectural design and deliver scalable backend services and data flows.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and mentor junior/mid-level engineers.
  • Contribute to frontend work as needed using React and Next. js.
  • Work on cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and leverage modern AI coding tools.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Ia C), and robust testing practices.

Qualifications

  • Strong backend development experience with Node. js and Type Script.
  • Frontend capabilities with React and Next. js are beneficial.
  • Cloud experience (Azure or AWS).
  • Fluency with modern AI coding tools, CI/CD, Ia C, and testing.
  • Excellent technical leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Experience contributing to platform rebuilds or large-scale system redesigns.
  • Salary expectation up to £75,000 (DOE) with benefits; hybrid role requiring 2 days per week in the Liverpool office.
