Express Recruitment are delighted to be representing a well-established Engineering Solutions Specialist who are looking to appoint a Mechanical Fitter on a full-time, permanent basis. Our client delivers bespoke mechanical and electrical engineering services across multiple sectors, including water, utilities, and infrastructure. They pride themselves on fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment, making this opportunity ideal for an experienced Fitter seeking a stable, long-term position with excellent earning potential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of mechanical systems and equipment, such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, and steel structures. You’ll also assist other disciplines on-site when required, including electrical and civil teams, ensuring all works are completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety regulations. Working hours are 7:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday (please note this is not a door-to-door role — candidates must be on-site for a 7am start).

This role offers a competitive hourly rate of up to £21 per hour, with the opportunity to earn up to £50,000 per annum including overtime and away allowances. You’ll also benefit from 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays), a healthcare scheme after your first month, paid accommodation and subsistence allowances when working away, additional hourly bonuses, professional development opportunities, and more!

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Carry out general mechanical duties across a variety of sites
  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and steel supports
  • Conduct fault finding and remedial work on mechanical systems
  • Assist Electricians or Civil Engineers when required
  • Work away from home on occasion (typically Monday–Friday) when projects require
  • Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety policies and site procedures
  • Read and adhere to all RAMS and Safe Systems of Work
  • Operate company vehicle responsibly and maintain professional standards at all times
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and clients
Skills and Experience
  • Time-served Mechanical Apprenticeship or Level 3 Mechanical Qualification
  • Experience in a similar role within engineering
  • Current Confined Space training certification
  • Valid CSCS Card
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving ability
  • Sound understanding of mechanical installation and maintenance practices
