Overview

North Lanarkshire Council’s Housing Service is recruiting a Business Development Officer to support the regeneration programme of its town centres.

The role is based in the Civic Centre, Motherwell and is part of the Business Development and Support team.

Key responsibilities include assisting with performance management, budget monitoring, financial reporting, regulatory returns, trend analysis, routine procedural audits and supporting the implementation of the new Housing & Asset Management system.

The post is advertised as two contracts – one for 18 months and one until 31 March 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performance management, budget monitoring and production of financial reports.
  • Produce and submit regulatory returns.
  • Conduct trend analysis and develop operational procedures.
  • Audit and evolve operational procedures to improve effectiveness.
  • Play a critical role in implementing the replacement Housing & Asset Management system.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent (SVQ level 4/HND) in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in housing, finance, quality, or a business‑based environment.
  • IT literate with experience of auditing and leading service review activities.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • High personal drive and motivation to deliver business solutions.
  • Desirable: housing, business, finance or quality qualification and experience of developing public services and resident consultation.

Benefits

Monday to Thursday, 08:45 – 16:45 (includes a 55‑minute unpaid break). 27 days annual leave plus 6 public holidays.
