About The Role
Bar Manager at the Everglades Hotel, reporting to General Manager Sam Denning. The role involves 35 hours per week (excluding breaks) across five shifts out of seven, including weekends, with hours varying to cover breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening functions.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the management of the restaurant for the greatest enjoyment of guests and maximum profit contribution to the hotel.
- Manage and motivate employees through effective communication, training, and development, in accordance with company policies and relevant employment legislation, ensuring all procedures are followed to Hastings Standards.
- Promote and contribute to a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.
- Receive payments for beverages sold and record drinks and goods sold to guests, in accordance with operating procedures.
- Use equipment and bar pumps efficiently, to maintain proper measures and ensure minimum wastage.
- Support the General Manager with annual budgets, putting in place appropriate mechanisms to effectively manage costs and all factors relating to the financial performance of the Bar, ensuring appropriate plans are created, communicated, and implemented.
- Ensure Hastings quality standards and procedures are fully understood, implemented and regularly reviewed, and that formal and informal feedback is used to ensure continual improvement.
- Ensure bar stocks are fully maintained and that goods and products are properly displayed to a high standard.
- Ensure company policies relating to stock management and stock ordering are implemented and monitored, taking appropriate action to resolve problems.
- Ensure all employees receive appropriate training, coaching and development to provide effective and efficient service in line with Hastings standards.
- Ensure the team are knowledgeable about the facilities and services within the hotel and are proactive in the sale of these to guests.
- Assist guests with any reasonable request for hotel services.
- Respond to complaints and find the appropriate solution.
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with other properties, departments, suppliers etc. to maintain an effective operation and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Ensure the bar areas, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained and presented to Hastings standards.
- Ensure the security of restaurant and storage areas is maintained at all times.
- Maintain a safe environment in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security legislation and company policies and procedures.
- Seek and continuously develop knowledge relating to the industry sector and competitor activity, providing input into future plans and maintain and enhance market position.
- Assist with the recruitment, selection and utilisation of employees to achieve the optimum use of employee resources in line with business peaks and troughs.
- Ensure the hotel's compliance with all matters relating to licensing laws, Customs and Excise Regulations and all other relevant legislation.
- Carry out the role of Duty Manager for the Hotel as required.
- Any other duties as required by Management.
