6-12 month Fixed Term Contract role with a Consultancy (Banking Client) in Sheffield (or Leeds)

Summary

The consultancy is seeking an accomplished Data Programme Manager to lead complex, multi-stream enterprise data platform transformation initiatives within a global banking client's UK technology hub.

This role requires a candidate who combines consultancy-grade delivery rigour with a proven track record of managing £10M+ enterprise data, cloud, or Data Fabric/Mesh transformations in global banking or financial services.

Execution: Own end-to-end delivery of high-value data transformation programmes, coordinating cross-functional pods (data engineering, BI, architecture, and business change).

  • Data Fabric & Platform

Delivery: Drive the execution and rollout of modern data platforms (Data Fabric, Data Mesh, Cloud Data Warehouses/Lakes, API integration frameworks) to unlock data value across complex legacy and cloud architectures.

  • Executive Governance & Steering: Lead programme governance, manage C-suite/executive stakeholders across Business and IT, secure funding lines, and manage dependencies in a heavily matrixed organisation.
  • Financial & Resource Management: Exercise strong commercial control over multi-million-pound budgets, capacity planning, resource allocation, and third-party delivery partners.
  • Risk & Regulatory Controls: Ensure robust data governance, lineage, quality controls, and compliance frameworks across all programme deliverables.

Requirements & Qualification Criteria

Record: Deep experience leading large-scale data, cloud, or enterprise analytics transformation programmes (£5M–£20M+ budgets) within Banking or Financial Services.

Gravitas: Exceptional political acumen and executive presentation skills; comfortable challenging senior stakeholders and translating technical architecture into business outcomes.

The Ideal Profile

  • Consultancy & Banking Pedigree: A background combining senior leadership in boutique/Tier-1 consultancies with embedded delivery inside global investment or corporate banks.

Knowledge: Direct prior exposure to the end client's internal governance frameworks, change delivery structures (Global Banking & Markets / Operations IT), or technology stacks.

  • Domain Focus: Deep domain background across post-trade operations, securities services, finance, or regulatory data reporting.
  • Technical Depth: Practical understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), automated data sharing APIs, Qlik/BI platforms, and enterprise data virtualisation.
