Grainseed is our specialty seed merchanting business, which offers a nationwide sales service through our network of knowledgeable agents and distributors.
Are you an organised professional with a background in agricultural storage? We are looking for a proactive Store/Plant Operative to join our established team. You will play a vital role in ensuring our seed processing and stores are well maintained, safe, and meet the highest standards.
The Role
- Inventory & Stock Control: Managing the complete lifecycle of seed stock—from intake and storage to final despatch. Your role will involve monitoring stock levels and providing the office with regular updates on production programmes and availability.
- Warehouse Operations: Perform a full range of duties including unloading deliveries, sampling for quality control, palletising, and accurate order picking.
- Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all stock movement paperwork and seed certifications are completed accurately.
- Facility Maintenance: Ensure all handling equipment and storage areas are clean, safe, and fit for purpose.
- Equipment Safety: Carry out daily maintenance and safety checks as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor on all plant, vehicles (such as forklifts), and machinery, reporting any faults as necessary.
- Assisting with Production: When required, assisting in the seed production processes.
About You
We are looking for a team player who takes pride in "getting it right the first time." Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in a production, plant, or warehouse environment, ideally within the agricultural sector.
- Strong attention to detail for stock rotation and inventory auditing.
- The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise between the warehouse and the main office.
- A forklift license is preferred but not essential.
This role is offered on a 40 hour per week basis, Monday-Friday. Due to the nature of the business and seasonal trends, flexibility is required and there will be occasions when additional hours are required, which you will be paid extra for.

In return we offer a competitive salary and bonus package, overtime, 25 days holiday per year – increasing by a day a year to 30 days after 5 year's service, life assurance and a contributory pension scheme.
