The predicted salary is between 28800 - 43200 £ per year.
Based from our Carlisle office, this varied role will involve buying goods and services for Grain’s day to day operations. It will include negotiating prices, placing orders, expediting deliveries, validating invoices and supplier reporting and spend analysis. You will be supported and coached through the role as you learn the products, processes and develop your skills in procurement and supply chain management. You will be speaking to a large range of both internal colleagues and our suppliers to ensure we are providing a great service to our customers and getting the job done.
Main responsibilities
- Ensuring best value for money on company purchases, placing purchase orders and negotiating supplier pricing
- Managing, forecasting and expediting stock and orders to ensure delivery on time
- Managing stock and deliveries for our critical build programme
- Setting up new supplier trade accounts and agreeing payment terms
- Supporting running ITT’s
- Reviewing invoices for accuracy and approval for payment
- Use of systems for purchase information and producing purchasing reports e.g. supplier spend, purchase orders placed, on time deliveries etc.
- Ability to build pricing spreadsheets for price evaluation
- Developing new processes and efficiencies within the Department
Working hours
This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. Monday – Friday from 9.00am – 5.00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Experience required
- Relevant work experience e.g. buying, procurement
- Ideally Level 3 CIPS or above
- Strong IT literacy, particularly adept in the use of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Outlook and Word
- Confident communicator, ability to negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers, strong numerically
- Ability to deal with conflict and manage various internal and external stakeholders across the business
- Proficient in the use of accountancy and stock systems such as Quick Books or ERP systems such as SAP, Sage or Oracle
- Structured methodical approach with the ability to manage multiple projects and timescales simultaneously
- Trustworthy self-starter with an ability to work without close supervision
- Good attention to detail for both specification and financial accuracy.
