An established and growing facilities management contractor is seeking an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer to join its commercial maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within a supportive business that invests in continuous training, professional development and career progression.

The successful candidate will work across a range of commercial water hygiene contracts, carrying out legionella control and water hygiene tasks on both mains-fed and stored hot and cold water systems. The role also includes minor plumbing works where required and offers a varied workload across multiple client sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out water temperature monitoring and water sampling in accordance with current legislation and guidance.
  • Conduct cold water storage tank inspections, cleaning and disinfection.
  • Clean and descale showers and other water outlets.
  • Service Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs).
  • Undertake minor plumbing repairs and remedial works as required.
  • Complete service reports accurately on the same day using a handheld PDA or mobile device.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients.
  • Work independently and as part of a wider team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach.
  • Manage workload effectively to meet agreed deadlines and service levels.
  • Respond to urgent tasks as required and support colleagues where necessary.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation, company procedures and industry best practice.

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum of one year's experience within a water hygiene role.
  • Legionella Awareness qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Desirable

  • NVQ in Plumbing or equivalent qualification.
  • Plumbing experience and the ability to carry out minor remedial works.
  • Knowledge of ACoP L8, HSG274 and the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.
  • Asbestos Awareness certification.
  • Training in Working at Height, Manual Handling, First Aid or other relevant Health and Safety qualifications.
