An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced External Works Operative to join a well-established social housing maintenance contractor.
This role is ideal for a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance, helping to keep homes safe, secure and well maintained.
The Role
The External Works Operative will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of external maintenance and repair works, including:
- Fencing repairs and installations
- Brickwork and minor masonry repairs
- Groundworks and external hard landscaping
- Roofing and roofline repairs
- Guttering, fascias and soffits
- Diagnosing repairs and identifying associated works
- Completing pre-inspections where required
- Recording completed works, materials and job information using a handheld device
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience carrying out external repairs and maintenance within domestic properties, ideally in the social housing sector
- Strong skills in fencing, brickwork, roofing, roofline repairs, guttering and groundworks
- The ability to diagnose repair issues and identify effective solutions
- Experience working safely at height and using power tools and appropriate PPE
- The ability to manage their own workload and consistently deliver work to a high standard
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Confidence using handheld technology to record work and job information
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- A full UK driving licence
- The ability to pass a basic DBS check
