Are you ready to take the lead in driving design excellence at one of the industry\’s leading firms? We\’re looking for an experienced Design Manager with a strong background in education sector projects, particularly DfE-funded developments
About the Role:
As a Design Manager, you will be at the forefront of managing design processes, ensuring buildability, efficiency, and optimal solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing permanent and temporary works designs for live projects and tenders.
- Collaborating closely with tender and project teams to align design expectations.
- Managing design programmes, incorporating them into the main programme.
- Fulfilling Designer duties for pre-construction operations under CDM Regulations.
- Providing design input for tender submissions and offering technical guidance as needed.
- Coordinating temporary works design elements and facilitating seamless information flow.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are seeking a candidate with:
- Strong background in Education sector projects, particularly DfE-funded developments.
- Proven experience in a similar role with a main contractor.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Dedication to quality and excellence in design execution.
Essential Criteria:
Design Management: Possess an excellent understanding of the design process and the management of interfaces between disciplines.
Construction Knowledge: Track record of site based experience and demonstrate very high level of knowledge of the design and construction process.
IT Skills: Can use all software/IT system to the benefit of the role and organisation.
Formal Qualification in Construction: Bsc, HND, HNC or equivalent experience.
Desirable Criteria:
Contract Knowledge: Understands specific contracts and is able to take appropriate action.
IT Skills: Have a working knowledge of Sketchup, Revit, Navisworks.
Professional Body: MCIOB, MICE or working towards it.
