As part of a major long-term campus transformation programme, we are seeking an Electrical Supervisor to support the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of electrical maintenance, minor works, and lifecycle activities across a live and operational university estate.

This role will support a multi-year programme focused on enhancing building systems, modernising electrical infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with statutory and technical standards. The Electrical Supervisor will lead a team of engineers, coordinate subcontractors, oversee day-to-day electrical operations, and ensure high standards of safety, performance, and customer service across the estate.

Job Type: Permanent / Full Time

The Electrical Supervisor will:

  • Supervise and lead a team of electrical engineers delivering planned, reactive, and remedial maintenance activities across a multi-site university estate.
  • Coordinate daily workloads, schedule tasks, allocate labour, and ensure timely completion of works in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Support the delivery of electrical elements of lifecycle works, minor projects, and refurbishment activities, ensuring seamless integration with other trades.
  • Liaise with the helpdesk, FM teams, and planners to prioritise work, manage job flow, and ensure accurate status updates.
  • Ensure all electrical works comply with statutory requirements, British Standards, IET Wiring Regulations, and health & safety procedures.
  • Carry out electrical maintenance or fault-finding tasks during peak demand or as required by operational needs.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, site inductions, briefings, and safety checks for direct staff and subcontractors.
  • Manage subcontracted electrical works, including performance, quality checks, safety compliance, and progress tracking.
  • Engage with building users, academic staff, and client representatives to ensure clear communication, minimal disruption, and positive customer experience.
  • Monitor site conditions, maintain accurate records, and document project progress, defects, variations, and completed works.
  • Undertake quality inspections, self-snags, and electrical compliance checks to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Coordinate material call-offs, tool requirements, and procurement requests.
  • Produce and contribute to operational, KPI, and performance reports for internal and client meetings.
  • Ensure accurate asset information, test certificates, commissioning data, and O&M documentation are produced and maintained.
  • Support incident response, emergency repairs, and out-of-hours escalation when required.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support skills development within the electrical team.
  • Represent GRAHAM professionally at all times when interacting with clients, users, and stakeholders.
  • Undertake any other duties relevant to the role in line with contract and operational needs.

About You

Essential Criteria

  • SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Electrical Engineering.
  • City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 / 2395 Testing & Inspection qualification.
  • Current IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition).
  • Demonstrable experience supervising electrical teams in commercial, industrial, or large-scale FM environments.
  • Strong experience in electrical installation, maintenance, fault finding, and compliance testing.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems within complex estates (e.g., campuses, hospitals, public buildings).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple jobs and teams.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and general IT systems for reporting, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing direct staff and subcontractors.

Desirable Criteria

  • Awareness or training in High Voltage systems.
  • Confined space training.
  • IPAF or PASMA certification.
  • COSHH and Manual Handling training.
  • Experience working within higher-education, public-sector, or similar operational estates.
  • Experience working within lifecycle replacement programmes or minor works delivery.
