People Manager (FTC) We are partnering with a well-established, values-led organisation to recruit an experienced People Manager to join their team in Birmingham.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this is a broad and genuinely hands-on People role with responsibility for providing high-quality HR support across the organisation. You will work closely with managers and the wider leadership team, providing practical advice and guidance while ensuring effective People processes are in place throughout the employee lifecycle.
This is an opportunity to join an organisation where the People function is highly visible and where you can make a tangible contribution. Alongside managing day-to-day HR activity, you will have the opportunity to improve processes, support managers and help create a positive, inclusive and engaging working environment.
The role will cover a broad range of People activity including employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, learning and development, performance management, absence and capability. You will provide practical advice to managers, ensuring they have the confidence and support to manage People matters effectively, while maintaining appropriate policies, processes and employee documentation.
You will also support workforce planning and resourcing, maintain accurate People data and management information and contribute to wider initiatives around employee engagement, culture and organisational development. Ensuring People practices remain compliant with employment legislation and relevant regulatory requirements will also form an important part of the role.
We are looking for an experienced HR generalist with a strong grounding across the employee lifecycle and good practical employee relations experience. You will need to be comfortable working autonomously, taking ownership of a varied workload and building trusted relationships with managers and employees across the organisation.
You will have a good understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice, combined with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be important, as will the ability to balance the day-to-day operational requirements of the role with opportunities to improve how the People function supports the wider organisation.
Experience gained within a regulated, care, charity or not-for-profit environment would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a broad People Manager position where they can have genuine visibility and influence within a purpose-led organisation. There is also the opportunity that this position could go permanent.
