My client is seeking an experienced Product Engineer to join their thriving business.
Summary of Role
To understand, incorporate and manage their Client's requirements into company-wide used data by means of Product Data Management (PDM), Bill of Materials (BoM's) and Drawing/information management. Perform basic modelling and assembly activities in CAD software to ensure pump designs and selection is correct. Support the instrumentation specialist with order handling of motors and instrumentation for projects.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Generate and configure BoM's for new orders, highlight risks associated, understand gaps and manage the activities to ensure new products are Engineered correctly.
- Support the rest of the business with Engineering related issues.
- Assist the Supply Chain to ensure Engineering defined information can be sourced and manufactured.
- Aid Customer Service with understanding root cause of product issues and development of ideas, as well as supporting internal Sales with technical knowledge and guidance.
- Ensure targets are on-track, reporting issues and using initiative and innovation to problem solve and aid in growth.
- Carry out business development and continuous improvement activities, finding the root-cause and implementing preventive solutions.
- Manage the expectations of both internal and external customers.
- Basic 3D modelling and assembly in Siemens NX – perform package checks to ensure pump selection is correct.
- Instrumentation and motor order handling - Specify instrumentation and motors for projects where applicable. Support and manage instrumentation and motor documentation creation, reviewing and revisions.
Personal Skills and Abilities
Essential:
- Qualified mechanical engineer (HNC or degree level) with a minimum of one year's experience in a mechanical engineering role.
- Proven analytical experience and evidence of creating robust engineering solutions.
- Driven with strong interpersonal skills and good communication.
- Spatial awareness to understand engineering drawings and visualise opportunities, improvements or problem solve.
- Show the ability to be an integral part of a team.
- 2D and 3D CAD experience, preferably Siemens NX.
- Electrical experience – motors and instrumentation.
Desirable:
- ERP/MRP experience.
- Experience with 'JD Edwards'.
- Experience with 'TeamCenter' and 'NX'.
- Operational understanding.
- Some knowledge of fluid handling would be useful.
- Understanding of Design Control.
- A sound engineering background with hands-on experience of rotating mechanical equipment.
- Have experience in a mechanical engineering design environment.
