Transport Operations About the Role We are looking for a proactive and experienced
Health & Safety Advisor
to support our GXO Sainsbury's Transport operation. You will work closely with transport management, drivers and operational teams to promote a positive safety culture, ensure legal compliance, reduce workplace risks and drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance. Key Responsibilities Provide professional health and safety advice and support to transport management and operational teams. Monitor workplace transport safety, including yard movements, shunting, vehicle and pedestrian segregation, and loading activities. Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, audits and workplace observations. Lead accident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes and monitor corrective actions. Support compliance with UK health and safety legislation, GXO standards and Sainsbury's requirements. Promote safe working practices covering HGVs, trailers, coupling and uncoupling, roll cages, tail lifts and store deliveries. Deliver safety briefings, toolbox talks and awareness campaigns. Analyse safety performance, identify trends and support improvement plans. Coach and challenge operational managers to strengthen safety ownership and accountability. Skills & Experience NEBOSH General Certificate, NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent. Experience in health and safety within transport, logistics or distribution. Good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and workplace transport risks. Experience with incident investigations, risk assessments and safety audits. Strong communication, influencing and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced transport environment. What We're Looking For A visible, approachable and confident Safety Advisor who can build strong working relationships, challenge unsafe practices and support operational teams in maintaining high safety standards. Your focus will be on preventing incidents, improving compliance and embedding a proactive safety culture throughout the transport operation. Mon - Fri Day rate - £19.23 Work time - 0830 - 1630 (must be flexible when needed due to operation is 24/7) and overtime at 1.5 after 40 hours worked. Days - Mon - Fri (again must be flexible where required) A positive, can-do attitude Excellent communication skills Grafters Recruit Ltd have five branches, four on-site locations and four remote contracts throughout the country.
