Alder Close Supported Living & Respite is based in the town of March, Cambridgeshire. The role of Support Worker is to enable adults with a disability to live as independently as possible and to enjoy lifestyles they choose to. We support and empower individuals to enhance the quality of their life, maximise potential and to continue to promote and develop independence skills within their home or whilst staying at Respite and within their own supported living home.
You will report to the Senior Support Worker and work in a small team to provide practical support, building on their existing skills and abilities whilst respecting their individual needs and choices. This includes supporting with personal care where needed, cleaning, shopping, and accessing community activities and opportunities. The role will involve administration of medication. You will be using IT to update documents such as support plans and risk assessments and will have a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and assessments of capacity.
The shifts are on a 4-week rota which could be subject to change to meet service need. These will be during the week, at weekends or Bank Holidays (between 8am - 10pm). Additional enhancements are paid for weekends and Bank Holidays. You will be required to work two weekend shifts, twice a month and complete sleep ins. The starting pay for the posts is £13.26 per hour (£19.89 Saturday hours - £23.60 Sunday hours). The hours available are for 24 per week every week.
You will be completing a comprehensive training program and benefit from excellent career development opportunities as well as being part of a supportive team committed to delivering an excellent service for adults with disabilities.
You will need to have a proficient level of written and spoken English and good IT skills for the purposes of case recording and to enable you to work towards further qualifications in Health and Social Care. You will already hold a Care Certificate at Level 2. You will not need to have previous experience of supporting a person with a disability as training will be provided for the right candidate; however, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will have the ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, the Mental Capacity Act as well as the need for safety and confidentiality in the role.
