The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 Β£ per year.

The Council has ambitious targets for nature recovery, natural capital and net zero across the authority. Within the Natural & Historic Environment Service there are currently seven large scale projects that require dedicated project manager capacity and coordination. The role will coordinate across the seven projects and project manage the stage 1 (pilot) of the Community Led Nature Restoration Project. Additionally, it will build nature as a theme into projects growing the CCC natural capital account and putting in place the outcomes from the Tree & Woodland strategy and the Biodiversity Audit and Strategy. It will also liaise with other parts of the council coordinating initiatives and projects to ensure maximum co-benefits. This post is fixed term role for 18 months with a possibility of an extension subject to the release of more funds.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the natural capital and environmental project(s) including the management of milestones, plans, progress against cost and quality.
  • Support the wider team in the identification and management of dependencies, risks and issues within the project(s), and any potential impact on the overall programme or wider system, reporting regularly.
  • Take active responsibility for the control and monitoring of projects, ensuring monthly progress reports on expenditure for boards are prepared and submitted in a timely way.
  • Work with key stakeholders and partners (at all levels) to effectively plan and implement business change, ensuring the regular and timely exchange of relevant information with internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure a mutual awareness.
  • Work to identify future project options and explore synergies across the service and other council departments.

About you

  • Knowledge and significant experience of delivery of project/change management concepts and methodologies in a complex environment e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, LEAN, (or equivalent), and the project development lifecycle.
  • Comprehensive IT skills, proficient in MS Office products with the ability to grasp new systems quickly.
  • An understanding of projects, policies, priorities and strategies within some or all of the following disciplines: environmental, natural capital, climate crisis and ecosystem services.
  • Experience of managing stakeholder relationships within complex projects and an ability to build strong, professional networks and relationships, inspiring others to deliver of their best.
  • Comfortable with considerable amounts of data and information with strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to understand complex issues and advise on complex solutions across business areas with the application of critical judgement.

Please note that whilst experience of project management in the environment sector is preferred, it is not essential.
