International Head of Compliance Counsel - Leading FTSE 100 Organisation, London
The Opportunity
Graff Search is delighted to partner with this International Retail & Consumer Organisation (non Financial Services) in London to search for a seasoned Head of Compliance Counsel / Lawyer. This is a permanent appointment, based in their London operation, reporting to the Global Chief Compliance Counsel (CCO) & Data Privacy Officer (DPO) for the firm. This is a hands-on, strategic role, but also holds managerial responsibility for a small team of Compliance professionals based in the UK and Europe.
This is a business-facing role where you will be expected to work closely with senior stakeholders within the business, some of which are overseas, and influence / shape the function's culture of integrity. Act as a trusted advisor across all areas of the organisation and drive a broad range of compliance behaviour on controls, risk and compliance / governance matters. Inform relevant stakeholders as to the impact of new regulations related to Compliance and implement / influence change to achieve successful outcomes and high standards.
The firm offers a hybrid working model of 2 to 3 days in their central London office and suits a business-facing Compliance / Regulatory Lawyer / Leader looking for a broad, hands-on Compliance role. Experience of Management is a nice to have, but not essential, as this is something that can be supported throughout your employment with the firm.
About You
- Demonstrable experience in Compliance and Ethics, Governance, Risk Management, Investigations and Controls affecting a leading Retail / Consumer UK-based organisation.
- Legally Qualified in the UK or EU or similar.
- Good working knowledge of Compliance and international regulatory frameworks.
- Proven background in influencing and communicating effectively at all levels, including executive and board.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with personal integrity.
- Experience of building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience of working across multiple jurisdictions / countries / geographies / cultures.
- Demonstrable experience of cutting through ambiguity and complexity and driving regulatory change across a fast-paced international organisation.
