The Opportunity
The Field Engineering team works closely with our Presales Solution Engineering team, as well as Product and Marketing, to ensure the SEs have the tools, collateral, enablement and experts they need to close business. The Field Engineering Infrastructure team maintains the backend systems, content creation and deep subject matter expertise that enables the Solution Engineering team to scale and focus on direct customer selling, community building, learning, and other adoption and revenue focused activities.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintain the Field Engineering infrastructure including the pre-sales Demo Kit application and infrastructure, as well as custom demo applications and deployment tools for workshops and custom engagements.
- Implement and maintain operational dashboards and alerts for Field Engineering infrastructure.
- Designing, developing, and delivering compelling product demos to add to the demo kit library.
- Creating and delivering Training Materials, and Product workshops to the SEs, customers, and the community.
- Over time become a SME on one or more of our products enabling you to assist the field with deep dive technical meetings, large strategic POVs, blogs, webinars and more.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 5+ years of technical experience, serving as a SRE, Developer, Architect and/or successful presales Solution Architect. OSS selling experience is a plus.
- Large-scale distributed systems: Proven track record deploying, operating, and maintaining highly distributed, multi-region platforms in production.
- Enterprise product engineering: Software engineering experience delivering at least one enterprise-grade product (design, implementation, code reviews, maintenance).
- Major cloud expertise: Deep hands-on proficiency with at least one CSP (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including IAM, networking, compute, storage, and managed services, including IAC tools such as Terraform.
- High availability and resilience: Designing and running HA systems (multi-AZ/region, redundancy, health checks, graceful SLOs and reliability practices: Defining SLOs/SLIs, managing error budgets, and driving reliability roadmaps.
- CI/CD and deployment strategies: Automated pipelines, canary/blue-green rollouts, safe rollbacks, and feature flags.
- Performance and capacity: Load testing, capacity planning, bottleneck analysis, and cost/performance optimization.
- Effective communication and documentation: Clear runbooks, design docs, and cross-team collaboration.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes.
- Professionally familiar with observability platforms, eg. Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, Datadog, etc.
- Experience building and delivering technical content for technical audiences. This includes Workshops, Demos, Decks, Webinars, Videos etc.
Compensation and Benefits
In the UK, the OTE compensation range for this role is £114,000 - £137,600. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process. All of our roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), giving every team member ownership in Grafana Labs's success. We believe in shared outcomes—RSUs help us stay aligned and invested as we scale globally. Compensation ranges are country specific.
