Overview
In this role you lead the Frontend Platform and Navigation squads for Grafana’s open-source observability frontend, driving performance, delivery, and customer outcomes. You’ll mentor senior engineers, partner with Product and Design, and scale AI-enabled development across distributed teams. Expect to shape roadmaps, improve engineering practices, and advance AI-assisted workflows to boost speed, quality, and user impact. This is a remote, globally distributed leadership role at a company with a strong OSS heritage.

Responsibilities
- Manage two distributed engineering squads: set expectations, coach, provide feedback, and build a culture of trust and accountability
- Own hiring and team planning to align capacity with product priorities
- Lead discovery with customers and community members to inform roadmaps and priorities
- Coordinate with Product, Design and engineering leaders to set priorities and balance trade-offs
- Oversee delivery from discovery to rollout and measurement, flag risks early
- Embed AI in management processes to improve planning, resourcing and coordination
- Lead adoption of AI and automation in engineering and operations workflows
- Set engineering direction for frontend foundations (DX, accessibility, architecture, tooling, reliability, multitenant)
- Guide navigation, search, and resource-organization directions, including AI-assisted discovery
- Maintain engineering standards for quality, security and operability, including AI work validation
- Drive productivity improvements and positive business outcomes across Grafana and R&D
- Participate in on-call rota and coordinate incident response improvements
- Utilize Grafana’s AI capabilities in observability, incident investigation, and feedback to roadmap
