Due to continued business growth, we have opportunities within our building surveying division. You will be delivering expert surveying services in response to new client claims. You will assess a range of properties and buildings in your area, including their surfaces such as driveways, gardens, and landscaping—identifying necessary repairs and providing clear, detailed reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site surveys of properties and buildings, including their surfaces such as driveways, gardens, and landscaping.
- Produce comprehensive reports with detailed recommendations in line with our clients’ indemnity.
- Identify defects and advise on effective remedial works.
- Provide guidance on proposed alterations and improvements, including realistic timelines.
- Prepare bill of quantities (BoQ), schedules of work, and safety assessments.
- Advise on relevant legal and planning matters.
- Adhere to internal reporting standards.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Building Surveyor.
- Relevant qualifications.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
- Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate workload peaks.
- Professional and presentable, both on-site and over the phone.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, legislation, regulations, rectification techniques, and current material costs.
- Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and various surveying software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong grammar and spelling.
- Organised, honest, and a reliable team player.
Desirable
- CITB Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience assessing buildings for damage caused by insured perils or working within the insurance industry.
HOURS OF WORK
8.45-5.00pm Monday to Friday - Northampton office and home-based, with regular field work.
STARTING SALARY
Extremely Competitive.
HOLIDAY
25 days plus bank holidays, an extra 16 hours of time off in lieu taken at no more than two-hour slots which equates to the total of 27 days plus bank holidays. An additional day is also given for your Birthday if it falls on a weekday.
