Our client is a growing business growth and funding consultancy based in Glasgow, supporting ambitious businesses with services including R&D tax relief, other tax incentives, accountancy, funding and HMRC enquiry support. The team takes a hands-on approach to client work and focuses on delivering technically robust, well-supported advice. The Role
As a Graduate Junior Technical Consultant, you will help businesses explain the technical work behind their R&D projects and turn those conversations into clear, compliant technical reports. You do not need previous R&D tax experience. Instead, we are looking for someone who can understand unfamiliar subjects, communicate confidently and develop the technical knowledge required for the role.
You will speak with clients, investigate their projects and learn how to assess and articulate the technical aspects of R&D for tax purposes. With experience, there is scope to progress into more senior technical responsibilities, management, sales or specialist areas, depending on your interests.
- Interview clients to understand their R&D activities, challenges and technical projects.
- Research and analyse technical information across a variety of business sectors.
- Develop clear case studies and technical reports for R&D tax claims.
- Explain complex technical and tax concepts in straightforward language.
- Support compliant reporting and learn to assess R&D eligibility.
- Build your technical knowledge through hands-on client work and feedback.

- Ability to understand complex information and explain it clearly
- Strong written skills and attention to detail
- Curiosity, adaptability and willingness to learn specialist technical knowledge
- Degree in engineering, science, geography, economics, accounting or another relevant subject.
Nice-to-Have
- Interest in R&D, tax, technology or business advisory work
- Any internship, placement or client-facing experience would be a bonus
