The Role
As a Graduate Environmental Chemist, you will complete a structured 12-month training programme designed to give you an all-round understanding of hazardous waste management, environmental compliance and site operations. You will rotate through key areas of the business every quarter, combining practical, hands-on work with technical learning. You will be assessed at the end of each module and supported to build the knowledge, judgement and problem-solving skills needed for future opportunities within the organisation. Key responsibilities:
- Learn how hazardous waste is assessed before acceptance and storage.
- Support site operations, including waste acceptance, storage and movement.
- Assist with sampling, laboratory testing and waste validation activities.
- Develop knowledge of environmental compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Support stock control, quality control and non-conformance management.
- Build a complete understanding of hazardous waste management processes.
Your training will include three core rotations:
- Laboratory Rotation – gain hands-on experience in sampling, product acceptance and waste testing while developing your laboratory knowledge.
- Technical Rotation – develop your understanding of waste pre-acceptance, technical assessments and the journey from initial job requests through to site acceptance.
- Site Operations Rotation – build practical experience in waste acceptance, storage, compliance, stock control and the day-to-day operation of a hazardous waste facility.

Requirements
- A Chemistry or Environmental Science degree, HNC or HND
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Willingness to learn and develop within a compliance-focused environment
