About the Role
This is a role with a clear career path. For the first 1–2 years, you'll play a key part in our Project Management Office (PMO), getting our processes, tools and reporting systems into shape and supporting the delivery of projects across the business. You'll ensure project managers are equipped to deliver value to stakeholders, meet business objectives, and maintain consistency across all project activity. The PMO supports projects from early planning through to execution, providing structure, governance and visibility across a broad portfolio of work — spanning a variety of business areas and making this a varied, interesting and meaningful role. Once our PMO processes are firmly established, this role is intended to progress into a Junior Project Engineer position, with further development from there. It's an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to build a strong foundation in project controls and governance before moving into hands-on project delivery and engineering. A solid grounding in project controls, risk management and project management methodologies will be essential to your success in both phases of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Phase 1 — PMO (Year 1–2)
- Take ownership of project and change management processes and reporting systems
- Assist project managers with developing and maintaining schedules (MS Project or Primavera P6) and identify suitable delivery and reporting methods
- Create and monitor project budgets, schedules and forecasts across the portfolio
- Maintain risk registers, RAID logs and other governance documentation
- Produce regular progress reports and dashboards for stakeholders and senior management
- Support project managers in preparing materials for governance boards and steering committees
- Collate and manage large volumes of project data and documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of PMO tools, templates and processes
- Support annual planning cycles and capital budgeting activities as the PMO function matures
- Phase 2 — Junior Project Engineer (from Year 2 onwards)
- Transition into hands-on project engineering responsibilities, building on the governance and controls experience gained in the PMO
- Assisting with the larger projects or running the smaller ones by yourself.
- Continue to develop technical and project delivery skills with support from senior engineers and project managers
About You
- Proficient in project controls, with the ability to create and monitor budgets, schedules and forecasts
- Well-developed presentation and report-writing skills
- An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage large volumes of data and documentation
- Proficient with MS Office and MS Project; SAP experience preferred
- Self-motivated, with the ability to take ownership of project management and business systems
- Solid project management foundations, holding a relevant certification (APM, PMI, PRINCE2 or similar)
What We Offer
- Basic salary of between 55-63k plus usual benefits
- A defined career path: 1–2 years in the PMO followed by progression into a Junior Project Engineer role, with further development opportunities beyond that.
