At Gradient Labs, we’re building an AI agent to redefine customer experience and operational efficiency in the financial services sector .Founded in 2023, we’ve quickly gone from an idea to a growing team with customers you know (and probably love). Our powerful AI agent is unique: it’s the only AI operations agent built specifically for financial services , handling even the trickiest, high-stakes customer queries safely and effectively. Crucially, it serves as one unified agent across the entirety of your customer operations , giving businesses the comprehensive visibility and control they need to trust all outcomes.
We’re a small but mighty team of builders from leading companies like Monzo, Pleo, and Google. If you’re excited to tackle some of the hardest problems in AI and help shape the future of customer operations and experience , we’d love to hear from you.
As an AI Engineer at Gradient Labs, you will…As an AI Engineer at Gradient Labs, you would spend your time doing:
Enhancing our agent: you would develop, evaluate, optimise and add to the skills that make up our agent. This includes preparing & curating datasets, iterating on agent enhancements, testing and evaluation of those changes all the way through to shipping successful approaches into our production platform.
Experimenting & prototyping : you’d keep up with the latest NLP and generative AI news and releases. You will prototype and experiment to identify opportunities to enhance our platform with the latest state-of-the-art.
Data analysis : you would analyse datasets of customer queries, support tickets, and related information to gain insights into patterns and discover areas that our agents could further automate.
We’re looking for people who are..
Excited to push the boundaries of what’s possible for autonomous agents that imitate human behaviour
Motivated to operate in a fast-pace environment, rather than longer research cycles
Can quickly summarise, replicate, and test ideas from research papers
Driven more by making an impact on the products they’re helping to build than academic research outcomes
Can persevere: many ideas you will experiment with will be ambiguous and might fail, a successful person in this role will find the strength to keep trying
Comfortable building with LLMs and have experience shipping LLM products to production (ideally have experience using Go)
QuestionsWhat is the salary?
The final compensation will depend on the relevant skills and experience of the candidate but generally we pay within top 5% of comparable roles at seed stage startups.
Where is this role based?
Ideally, we’re looking for someone who can come into the London office (close to Liverpool Street Station) at least once a week. However, we’re open to remote work across the UK if you’re able to join the team in person in London once a quarter.
