The school is looking for a committed individual to join them on a long-term basis, with genuine potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate. As a SEND Teaching Assistant at this exceptional school, you will play a pivotal role in supporting pupils with a diverse range of special educational needs (SEN). You will work closely with class teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a nurturing, inclusive, and highly effective learning environment. Your focus will be on facilitating each student's academic progress, personal development, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities:- Providing tailored one-to-one or small group support to pupils with a variety of complex special educational needs.
- Assisting with the planning and implementation of differentiated learning activities, adapting strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
- Utilising and supporting specialist communication strategies.
- Implementing positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques, fostering emotional regulation and social skills.
- Monitoring, observing, and accurately recording pupil progress, achievements, and challenges, reporting effectively to the class teacher and multi-disciplinary team.
- Contributing to the creation and maintenance of a stimulating, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
- Assisting with the preparation and organisation of specialist learning resources and equipment.
- Significant and demonstrable experience working as a Teaching Assistant, specifically within a SEND school or with pupils with complex special educational needs.
- A deep understanding of diverse SEND conditions and evidence-based strategies for supporting pupil learning and development.
- Experience with various communication methods and assistive technologies relevant to SEND.
- Exceptional patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs.
- Strong ability to build rapport and trust with vulnerable pupils.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
