We are currently seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in the Lowestoft area. This is a full-time, long-term role starting ASAP and running until July 2026. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Maths or Science (or both), however applications from generalist SEN teachers are very welcome. The school values strong classroom practice and experience in SEN settings and encourages applications from teachers with QTS/QTLS, as well as those with relevant experience teaching in UK schools without formal teaching status.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN
  • Teach Maths and/or Science where appropriate, adapting content to meet individual needs
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
  • Create a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Manage behaviour positively in line with individual support plans and school policies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SEND staff, and pastoral teams
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, contributing to targets and reviews
  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

Requirements:

  • Experience teaching in an SEN or UK school setting
  • Ability to teach Maths and/or Science, or experience as a generalist SEN teacher
  • QTS or QTLS preferred, but not essential for candidates with strong UK school experience
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, adaptable, and resilient approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
