We are currently recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in the Lowestoft area. This is a long-term role starting ASAP and running until July 2026, with both full-time and part-time positions available. The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs and provides a structured, supportive, and nurturing environment focused on helping every child succeed.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
- Support pupils’ learning, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
- Assist teachers with the delivery of adapted and differentiated lessons
- Support pupils with routines, transitions, and positive behaviour strategies
- Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
- Work closely with teaching staff, SEND teams, and pastoral staff
- Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
Requirements:
- Experience working in a UK school or youth work setting within the last 3 years
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Patient, calm, and consistent approach
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Flexible and reliable, with the ability to adapt to different needs
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
