This internship offers the opportunity to join a leading Research & Development hub and gain hands-on experience in electrical engineering within a global innovation team. You’ll contribute to the design, development and optimisation of equipment and technologies used across internationally recognised consumer brands.

The Process & Engineering (P&E) team focuses on uncovering opportunities to improve equipment performance, explore new technologies, and enhance sustainability across manufacturing systems. Interns play an active role in transforming early concepts into high-performing products and processes used around the world.

Key Criteria
  • Studying toward a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics / Robotics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science / Computer Engineering.
  • Graduating in 2027 (priority), though applications from 2026 graduates are also considered.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK for the full internship duration (1 July – 19 September 2026) without sponsorship.
  • Strong interest in new technologies, automation, robotics or equipment innovation.
  • Evidence of problem-solving ability and technical curiosity.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills or initiative through academic, work or extracurricular achievements.
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects forward using initiative.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Interest in sustainable engineering, system optimisation or continuous improvement.
About the Reading Innovation Centre

The site is home to over 200 scientists and engineers working across healthcare, grooming, beauty and oral care product innovation. It is one of Europe’s key R&D hubs, supporting multiple business categories and driving technological advances across product design, engineering and manufacturing. The centre is well connected to Reading town centre and major transport routes.

Interns work directly on live engineering projects from day one. Previous projects have included:

  • Calibration of robotic pick-and-place systems.
  • Electrical panel design for complex manufacturing machinery.
  • Equipment troubleshooting and optimisation.
