This is a serious launchpad into civil engineering — not a box-ticking apprenticeship. You’ll be part of Sizewell C, one of the UK’s most important low-carbon infrastructure projects. When complete, it will supply reliable electricity to 6 million homes for at least 60 years, putting you right at the centre of the UK’s energy future.
If you want real responsibility, proper engineering exposure, and a career that actually matters, this one’s for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Civil Engineering Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers and construction professionals across every stage of a major infrastructure project — from design to delivery and beyond. You’ll gain hands-on experience in areas such as:
- Civil and structural design
- Health, safety and engineering analysis
- Site construction and environmental management
- Earthworks and temporary works
- Tunnelling, marine and coastal engineering
- Water, waste and flood management
- Transport and power infrastructure
- Project delivery and installation
This is broad, technical, and practical — exactly what early-career engineers need.
Training & Development
This is a 5.5-year Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship designed to take you from learner to professionally recognised engineer. You will study towards a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering with one day per week at University of Suffolk (Ipswich campus). On completion, you will progress directly to IEng registration via your End-Point Assessment. Accelerated career progression once qualified. You’ll graduate with zero student debt, a degree, industry experience, and professional recognition.
Location & Travel
Primary base: London office. Occasional travel to Suffolk (Sizewell site). Placements across different business units to broaden experience. Flexibility is key — this is a national infrastructure project, not a desk-only role.
