Our client is recruiting an Electrical Engineering Graduate for a structured development programme focused on nuclear regulation. Across two years and three secondments, you will gain experience of different organisations, facilities and technical challenges, from operational power stations to nuclear waste management sites. This is an opportunity to apply your technical knowledge to work with national significance, learn from experienced specialists and understand how effective regulation supports safe, secure and sustainable nuclear operations.
Key eligibility criteria
- Hold, or be on track to achieve, a minimum 2:2 in a relevant degree by the programme start date. Relevant subjects include Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Controls, Computing, Physics or another related discipline. BEng, MEng, BSc and MSc qualifications are welcomed.
- Have the right to work in the UK for the full two-year programme, subject to satisfactory checks.
- Successfully complete the required security clearance checks.
- Be willing and able to travel and relocate across the UK for placements and programme activities.
- This is a rotational opportunity, with locations dependent on your sponsoring organisation and secondments.
- Be available to start in September 2027.
What you’ll do
Working alongside experienced regulatory specialists, you will develop the knowledge and skills to support the assessment of electrical systems and safety arrangements at nuclear licensed sites. You will gain insight into how regulators:
- Assess whether systems and equipment are designed, installed, operated and maintained to manage risk effectively.
- Review technical evidence to determine whether safety has been adequately demonstrated.
- Evaluate the processes and procedures used to maintain safe operations.
- Consider how new technologies and innovations could improve safety.
- Contribute to national and international standards, technical guidance and research.
- Work across engineering disciplines to assess risks and inform regulatory decisions.
You will also develop your ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders, including site operators, government bodies and international partners.
