Reports To: Works Supervisor / Infrastructure Services ManagerPosition ObjectiveThe Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of water supply, drainage, and sewerage systems within the Far North Queensland Region. The role ensures compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and Council policies to provide safe and efficient plumbing services for the community.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, maintain, and repair water supply and sewerage infrastructure, including mains, pipes, pumps, and fittings.Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on Council-owned plumbing assets.Respond to emergency plumbing issues and undertake corrective action in a timely manner.Ensure compliance with relevant plumbing regulations, codes, and Council policies.Work collaboratively with other Council departments to support infrastructure projects.Maintain accurate records of work completed, including materials used and time spent.Operate and maintain tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.Provide advice and guidance on plumbing matters to Council staff and community members as required.Assist with training apprentices or junior staff when required.Follow workplace health and safety (WHS) guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.Selection CriteriaTrade qualification as a Licensed Plumber (Certificate III in Plumbing or equivalent).Current Queensland Plumbing License.Knowledge of plumbing and drainage legislation, codes, and standards.Demonstrated experience in water supply and sewerage system maintenance.Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Current Construction White Card.Current manual driver\’s license (Class C).Backflow prevention and Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) accreditation.Confined space entry and working at heights certification.Experience working in a local government environment.Heavy Rigid (HR) driver\’s license.Applications: For more information please contact Niki@gracewellgroup.com.au or 043 736 1001.Please note only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
