Role Overview
As a Sales Engineer, your role is to provide a bridge between the commercial teams at Grabyo and the product & engineering teams. You need to become an expert on the technical platform and will act as a surrogate for engineers in the field with customers. You are the technical authority in the room. You aren't just giving a slide deck; you are architecting cloud production and social video workflows. You will bridge the gap between our commercial teams and the product/engineering squads, acting as a 'field engineer' who understands the nuances of live production, remote solutions, signal flow, latency, and cloud infrastructure. You will become an expert on the Grabyo platform, capable of troubleshooting complex live ingest scenarios and demonstrating how cloud production outperforms traditional on-prem hardware and software setups. Working closely with the Sales and Support teams, you will be able to provide in-depth demos for important technical representatives at any customer or prospect. The SE will also need to stay informed about the video industry, and cloud production news and competition, in particular.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Solutioning & Demos: Lead high-stakes technical demonstrations that focus on live production, audio mixing, and remote contribution across a range of live formats from alt-casting to event production and multi-platform streaming in the cloud. Understand customers' current and future technical requirements to present viable, production-grade solutions. Research competitors’ products and technical platforms to clearly articulate Grabyo’s advantages and challenges in the field.
- Liaison & Product Strategy: Act as a technical liaison, translating 'production-speak' from clients into actionable requirements for our Product and Engineering teams. Consult with the Product team to help prioritize the most commonly requested features for the Grabyo product roadmap. Work with the Partnerships lead to identify technology solutions that advance platform capabilities and commercial opportunities. Stay ahead of industry trends like REMI (Remote Integration Model), AI-automated production, and IP contribution.
- Operational Excellence: Own the technical response for RFPs/RFIs, specifically addressing production features and set-up, in addition to other video workflow requirements. Serve as the Tier-2 technical escalation point for Grabyo clients, diagnosing issues related to bitrates, frame rates, and stream health and overall production quality and reliability.
Skills & Experience
- Production Expertise: 3–5 years of experience in Live Video Production, Broadcast Engineering, or Video Sales Engineering. You must understand the stakes of a 'live' environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of video protocols (SRT, RTMP, HLS, DASH) and codecs (H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC). Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS) is preferred. Experience with software-based vision mixers (e.g., vMix, OBS, Tricaster) or professional hardware switchers.
- Mindset: A fast learner with a passion for broadcast, digital, and social media; thrives in a high-energy, startup culture - someone who thrives under the pressure of live broadcasting.
- Communication: Ability to explain 'Cloud Production' to a C-level executive while being able to argue 'Bitrate vs. Quality' with a Master Control Room (MCR) engineer.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Engineering, Media Technology, or Computer Science - degree preferred but not required.
- Language: Professional fluency in English.
