This role encompasses a wide array of accounting and payroll responsibilities, including month end close and reporting, external reporting obligations (including managing the audit), payroll, accounting processes and controls and compliance with internal policies. The role is responsible for all 6 countries that we currently operate in. Due to the group's recent rapid geographical expansion, new accounting and payroll obligations and many other "firsts" will need to be addressed, allowing the successful candidate to stamp their mark on the role. The company is at an exciting stage of its growth and this high profile role has the opportunity to grow with the organisation. This role includes managing a team of 4, with responsibility for their coaching and career development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing the accounting function on a day to day basis for the Wayve Group
  • Overseeing the payroll function for the Wayve Group
  • Responsible for the accounting for share-based payments compensation
  • Responsible for the consolidation, quarterly, of the Wayve Group
  • Preparation of the Financial Statements for the Group (under FRS102)
  • Responsibility for managing the audit on a day to day basis
  • Writing, updating and enforcing compliance with policies
  • Ensuring processes and controls are to a high standard
  • Supporting and developing the team

About you

In order to set you up for success as the Financial Controller at Wayve, we're looking for the following skills and experience.

Essential:

  • 10+ years of experience - ideally combining both public practice and commercial experience
  • Qualified Accountant
  • Prior experience managing the payroll function
  • In depth understanding of accounting processes and controls
  • Prior experience managing an audit
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills - able to communicate across a range of audiences
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, changeable environment

Desirable:

  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions
  • Consolidation across multi currency entities
  • Accounting experience in a private company with complex employee equity offerings
