Are you an experienced Payroll Manager with a strong background in running payrolls for accountancy clients? Thomas & Co International Limited is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join our fast-paced team!
About the RoleYou'll be responsible for running payrolls and pensions on behalf of our accountancy clients, ensuring their staff are paid accurately and on time. You'll work closely with our Payroll Associate and internal accounting pods to deliver seamless, compliant, and high-quality payroll services.
Key Responsibilities- Processing all payrolls and pensions for our clients
- Informing clients of their PAYE liability with links and references to HMRC
- Contacting HMRC for PAYE queries
- Circulating legislative updates to colleagues and clients
- Responding to client queries in a timely and professional manner
- De-registering and registering clients for PAYE where required
- Payrolling benefits
- Administering pensions and ensuring client compliance with pension regulations
- Submitting Declarations of Compliance to The Pensions Regulator
- Posting payroll journals to Xero
- Reviewing monthly payroll staff headcount to ensure accurate billing
- Identifying client scope changes and informing the Client Manager
- Assisting with other payroll-related admin duties as required
- Internal training of Thomas & Co colleagues
- External client training on an adhoc basis
- Payment run processing
- Managing client relationships
- Improvements to internal payroll processing, including standardisation of information received
- Must have proven experience in payroll processing in an accountancy practice environment
- Must hold a payroll qualification
- Strong proficiency with payroll systems
- Knowledge of UK PAYE, pensions, and HMRC compliance
- Accurate, efficient, and deadline-focused work ethic
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Confident working independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Experience using Buddy software for payroll processing is preferred
Monday to Friday Full time, 37.5 hours. Hybrid role – based in Oldham, with flexibility to work from home 3 days a week.
