Job Description
We are a well-established freight forwarding and transport company, providing efficient logistics and distribution solutions across national and international markets. We are seeking a skilled Transport & Distribution Manager to lead our transport and distribution functions, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and growth.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Planning, directing, and coordinating the company’s transport, warehousing, and distribution operations.
- Managing budgets, resources, and staffing to achieve cost-effective and efficient operations.
- Overseeing fleet utilisation, route planning, scheduling, and regulatory compliance in line with national and international transport laws.
- Managing distribution centre activities, including goods storage, inventory accuracy, and order fulfilment.
- Setting service standards for delivery performance, stock control, and last-mile distribution.
- Leading and supervising transport, warehouse, and distribution teams, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Developing and implementing policies and systems to improve service levels, reduce costs, and maintain compliance.
- Negotiating contracts with carriers, suppliers, and service providers.
- Liaising with clients and internal departments to ensure customer satisfaction and service quality.
- Preparing operational and financial reports for senior management.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required
- Proven experience in transport, distribution, or logistics management within freight forwarding or a related sector.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to direct teams and operations.
- In-depth knowledge of transport legislation, health & safety requirements, and distribution practices.
- Proficiency in transport management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and contracts.
