I am looking for an MEP Design Manager (Mechanical bias). As the MEP Design Manager, you will be managing the design, coordination and delivery of all things mechanical, working closely with your electrical colleague and team.

The Company has been established for over 20 years with a turnover of approximately £120 million and national offices with a global client base. They work closely with a large range of clients including government departments, data centres and mission critical, heritage, health, defence and general commercial. Hours/Job Type: 38 – 40

The Role Key Responsibilities / Design Leadership:

  • Oversee all mechanical design on medium and large scale projects with a typical value of £3 million to £55 million.
  • All HVAC Systems and services.
  • Cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH, chillers, liquid cooling where applicable).
  • Manage design, drawings & specifications.
  • Work with specialist vendors (e.g., UPS, generators, cooling OEMs).
  • Proactively manage & promote BIM / Clash detection.
  • Support procurement of key MEP packages:
  • Electrical and mechanical subcontractors.
  • Review subcontractor designs and ensure alignment with employer’s requirements.
  • Assess technical submissions during tender stage.
  • Provide technical support during installation.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations/ BSI standards (BS/EN)/ CIBSE guidelines / Uptime Institute Tier classifications.
  • Manage, train, mentor and motivate mechanical team.

Key Skills & Experience Essential:

  • Ideally but not essential, degree in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering / A clear background that shows loyalty, training & success.
  • Proven experience for a MEP Sub-Contractor, main contractor, D&B environment or MEP consultancy.

Software Skills Needed:

  • Hevacomp or similar software.
  • Manual calculation experience.
  • Any experience of BIM tools, Revit, Navisworks is beneficial.
  • Load calculation and simulation tools.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel for technical/commercial analysis).
