Overview
The position of Field Service Technician is centered around providing technical assistance for the installation, maintenance, and removal of service equipment in the chemical manufacturing sector. The role is based in Wigan, UK, but requires frequent travel across the North of the UK for fieldwork. The technician will report to the Field Service Supervisor and play a key role in customer site visits, equipment maintenance, logistics, and safety compliance.
What you’ll do
- Carry out GAC carbon transfers, filter changeouts, installations, and basic repairs.
- Take saturated carbon measurements and keep accurate site/service records.
- Communicate with customers on-site and escalate issues to the Field Service Supervisor.
- Maintain and prepare equipment (hydroejectors, hoses, couplings) and support workshop tasks.
- Work safely to permits, RAMS, and company procedures; report near-misses and hazards.
- Assist with transport and job logistics, including loading/unloading and kit mobilisation.
- Travel across the North of the UK with occasional overnight stays; take part in the callout rota.
What you’ll bring

- Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment confidently.
- Strong customer communication and good IT skills for reporting and documentation.
- Safety-first mindset; Confined Space, First Aid, or FLT are desirable (or willingness to obtain).
- Flexibility to travel, work varied conditions, and stay away when required.
- Full UK driving licence.
