GPW are working with an established, successful Engineering company to recruit a Technical Service Engineer based in Chorley, with international travel.

The Technical Service Engineer should be a self-motivated person who can work well either individually or as part of a team. The position will be split between being office based and “hands on” on site – sometimes at short notice. Site work includes inspection, service, repair, installation and commissioning of new or existing equipment on a global scale.

Tasks, responsibilities, and skills may include:

  • A broad based mechanical engineering knowledge and skill set
  • Trouble shooting and problem solving
  • Supervision of teams of sub-contractors
  • The ability to work alone at customer sites
  • Generation of detailed accurate reports
  • The ability to maintain accurate comprehensive records of all work in formats required
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers
  • Inspection of pressure vessels
  • Repair of pressure vessels to the relevant code
  • On site assembly of new / repair of existing equipment
  • Assembly / preparation of equipment and tooling in workshop
  • Accepting responsibility and accountability commensurate with the position
  • The service department travel internationally, specifically to service pressure vessels on specialist machines. Any training specifically relevant to pressure vessels would be given by the company.

    Candidate Requirements:

  • Recognised ECITB time served apprenticeship in mechanical engineering
  • Full clean UK driving licence and UK passport
  • On offer:

  • This is a permanent role, based in the North West, UK paying £30,000 pa – £40,000 pa basic dependant on expertise and experience, plus there is a daily additional payment when out on site
