WINTER GRITTING OPERATIVES REQUIRED!
Contract Duration: Seasonal
Locations: Salmesbury and Warton
Start Date: October 2026
Hours: Lates/Nights - Up to 12 hours
Training: First week of employment
Rate: 20 CIS
Role: You will be helping to maintain safe access routes across two sites during winter weather.
- Daily weather monitoring and callouts when temperatures fall below 7°C
- Notification issued from 1pm each day
- Operations commence after 3pm when required
Typical gritting duties can include:
- Monitoring weather forecasts for frost, ice, or snow
- Inspecting roads, footpaths, and other surfaces
- Operating gritting vehicles or using handheld spreaders
- Applying salt or grit before or during icy conditions
- Keeping records of when and where gritting was carried out
- Ensuring gritting equipment is maintained and stocked
Requirements:
- Previous gritting experience is essential
- Driving licence - desirable
- Mandatory security clearance and DBS checks will be made
- Reliable and flexible approach to work
- Ability to work outdoors in winter conditions
- Good availability during the winter season
The operation will run for 7 days per week. However, we do not expect individuals to work continuously across all 7 days. A rota system will likely be implemented, such as 4 days on and 4 days off, although this is still to be confirmed.
