Salary: £46,587.88 per annum (inclusive of 35% holiday bonus) plus 33 days holiday (25 vacation and 8 bank holidays). Potential earnings up to £59,299.54.

About the Company: GPW Recruitment is partnering with Ford Halewood Transmissions Ltd (FHTL) in Halewood to recruit a Metrology Engineer / Measurement Room Specialist. FHTL develops and manufactures transmissions and is investing £230 million to transform the facility to build electric power units for future all-electric vehicles.

Overview: As a Metrology Engineer / Measurement Room Specialist, you will be part of the Quality Department and be responsible for working in metrology and metallurgical laboratories measuring internal and external components and maintaining measurement systems. You will collaborate with engineers, managers, production and maintenance teams to deliver projects and services that support an advanced automotive manufacturing environment.

Hours and Shift Pattern: Working a 3-shift system:

  • Earlies: Monday 6.30 am-3 pm; Tuesday-Thursday 7 am-3 pm; Friday 7 am-12 pm.
  • Lates: Monday-Thursday 3 pm-11 pm; Friday 12 pm-5.30 pm.
  • Nights: Monday-Thursday 11 pm-7 am; Friday 5.30 pm-11 pm.

A 27.5% shift allowance applies and you must be flexible to work any shift pattern aligned with business requirements. Halewood’s standard hours are Monday-Thursday 7:00-15:30 and Friday 7:00-12:30.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completed Mechanical/Electrical apprenticeship and an HNC/HND equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of measurement principles and processes.
  • Background in metrology laboratory measurement preferred.
  • Computer literacy – good knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and willing to learn.
  • Proven ability to work in a team, be self-motivated and flexible.
  • Good understanding of 5S and workplace organisation.
  • Experience with CMM, calibration, programming, GDT (Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support commissioning of new measurement equipment.
  • Measure internal and external purchased components using laboratory equipment.
  • Support development of test methods and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Produce measurement reports for components measured.
  • Assist with quality investigations providing measuring support.
  • Work within a team to ensure tasks align with targets.
